Salü, I’m Marc
I’m a Swiss Web Developer working in a small agency in Bern, the capital of Switzerland. I build software solutions for enterprises. Besides that I’m working part-time as a multimedia producer. Video is my second passion. Sometimes after, or even before work I go out and take landscape photos or time-lapses.
Since I was a ten-year-old kid I know that I’m going to be a cameraman. I love moving pictures and the possibilities in it.
Because good gear was expensive, I started filming with a cheap compact camera. I also had no powerful computer to cut my movies. Later I realised that this was a great advantage. I learned how to make movies at its basics and got more selective about what I shoot.
To get my dream job I had to finish an apprenticeship first, so I started a 4-year long education as a mediamatician, which sounded like the perfect match for me (and it was). I was lucky to get a position at a video production company. There I could learn to handle gear in another price level than I was used to. Freelancers and my supervisors could teach me a lot about it.
After two hard but interesting years, things didn’t go as expected and the company ran out of money. Because I was learning a lot about web development in my spare time, I had the opportunity to change company. At the new design agency (Miux) I got very excited about the web in general and since then I try to push my own boundaries in this area. There I was able to master WordPress and enjoyed building websites from scratch.
After I pushed the technological standards of the web team in the agency I was up for a new challenge. So I started building more complex web solutions with Whatwedo. Tools to optimize the workflows in the everyday business.
Since the beginning of 2017 I started working part-time at a video production company (ON AIR) as a multimedia producer. What I actually do is work behind the camera, edit videos and be part of live productions.
For recreation or side-projects, I kept my passion in photography. I take landscape photos and also do a lot of time-lapses.
